Jordan Journeys the World
At the young age of 20, I am eight months away from embarking on the biggest adventure of my life. I am currently in my 3rd year of studying Honours International Development, minoring in French and completing a Diploma in Environmental Assessment, at the University of Waterloo. This program provides me with the unique opportunity to do a field placement in a developing country for eight months in my 4th year of study.
Why International Development, you might ask? Good question.
The short answer: I care about the world and find it, and its diverse cultures, people and languages, wonderfully fascinating; and I like helping people, making others happy and making a positive difference.
Also, unique to Waterloo's program (in the Faculty of Environment), I can combine my interests in social issues with environmental and sustainability issues as well. Still, I have so many different interests, not just within the International Development field, which makes choosing one path very difficult. So, for now, I will see where life takes me.
The title of my blog - As I Am… This is a humble presentation of myself, sharing some of my thoughts and ideas. Take from it what you wish. Maybe you will disagree. Maybe you will connect with my cause. Maybe you will open your eyes to your surroundings. Maybe you will get an idea. Maybe you will be inspired. Maybe you will be changed. Maybe you will change the world.
I encourage you to follow my blog as I share a collection of my thoughts, ideas, questions and experiences as I prepare for and eventually embark on my eight-month overseas field placement in September 2013. As I am by no means an expert in any of the topics I will be writing on, I encourage feedback, opinions, questions, comments and insights from those of you reading.
